This time of life can be challenging! As a mom, I get it. I wish more people talked about how difficult this period of life can be at times and supported one another rather than engaging in mommy wars that lead to feelings of inadequacy, low self esteem, anxiety, depression, and conflict.
Because really, we don’t need one more reason to not feel “good enough”.
I believe in empowering women to become the best versions of themselves. I utilize cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), acceptance commitment therapy (ACT), interpersonal therapy (IPT), and components of Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT). I believe that we are all unique individuals so therapy/counseling looks different with each person with whom I work.
My name is Felicia Hurst. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Supervisor in Ardmore, Oklahoma area. I have a passion for providing counseling to women as they navigate through creating a rich and meaningful life.
I have advanced post masters degree training in working with women and providing maternal mental health counseling during the perinatal period and I am one of only a few counselors certified in perinatal mental health! This certification shows that I have had advanced training, have passed a rigorous exam process, and that I strive to stay knowledgeable in this field. I also have training focused on aspects of maternal health such as infertility, pregnancy and infant loss, birth trauma and more. I do not believe we are ever “experts” but rather that we dedicate time and effort into continuing to grow and providing the best services that we know how to provide.
When I am not providing counseling or therapy services I have the pleasure of mentoring other mental health professionals, volunteering in the perinatal and maternal mental health communities, and training medical professionals to identify perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I am an approved LPC Supervisor which allows me to provide supervision for LPC Candidates.
