LPC Supervision for LPC Candidates
Deciding which LPC Supervisor to choose is an important decision.
Whether you have just completed your Counseling/Psychology Program and are looking for a LPC Supervisor to guide you through the process of becoming licensed, or you have been working with another supervisor but just didn't feel that you were getting everything out of the experience that you needed, You are looking for a supervisor who is caring, compassionate, and competent. Not only do you want to complete this process and become licensed, you also want to walk away from supervision as a competent counselor. You are ready to put in the time and effort to grow.
I am an approved LPC Supervisor through the Oklahoma Board of Behavioral Health. I have training in providing caring and compassionate supervision to help you grow as a clinician. I will work WITH you to help you develop and accomplish your goals of supervision. I am knowledgeable in diagnosing, treating mood and anxiety disorders with children and adults, and utilizing many evidenced based modalities and therapeutic techniques.
FAQs
Q. What does Supervision entail?
A. Throughout this supervision experience, I will take on different roles at different times-that of teacher, consultant, counselor, and evaluator to help you, the supervisee, meet the requirements of their licensing board. In my role as your supervisor, I will provide you with feedback throughout this supervision experience. Formal written evaluations and recordings, either by audio or visual, of two sessions will be conducted a minimum of every six months and submitted to the board.
Q. How many hours of supervision will I receive from you each week?
A. In order to meet the requirements for LPC Licensure, we will meet consistently for 45 minutes once a week for 1:1 supervision and 45 minutes for a second time each week for group supervision. In addition to providing more time for learning and reflection, this extra time helps ensure you are able to count all of your direct contact hours towards licensure.
Q. What happens after supervision?
A. After supervision I will remain available to you for mentorship, collaboration, and consultation. I believe that the relationship developed, between supervisor and supervisee, is one that is valuable and should be available throughout your professional career.
